Introduction

The Arista Networking - Data Center Engineering (DCENG) course is designed for senior network engineers and architects who are responsible for designing and building data center network infrastructures. This course concentrates on the engineering and architecture of Layer 2 and Layer 3 Leaf-Spine data center networks.

You will gain in-depth understanding and hands-on experience with advanced Arista technologies focusing on both Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking designs with underlay and overlay configurations, and VXLAN in the context of a data center deployment.

Key areas of expertise you will develop include:

  • Layer 2 Leaf-Spine Design: Understand L2LS architecture drivers, design overview, performance, redundancy, and scale considerations.
  • Layer 2 Technologies: Master VLANs, STP, LACP, MLAG, and first-hop redundancy protocols (VRRP/VARP) for building resilient L2 fabrics.
  • Layer 3 Leaf-Spine Design: Learn L3LS design principles with BGP underlay, VXLAN and EVPN importance, and various deployment options.
  • VXLAN Design: Configure VXLAN overlays with multiple control plane options including multicast, HER, VCS, and EVPN.
  • EVPN Overlay: Implement EVPN fundamentals, advanced concepts like IRB (symmetric and asymmetric), multihoming, and design best practices.
  • CloudVision Studios: Deploy complete L3LS data center networks with EVPN and MLAG using CloudVision Studios.

Upon completion, participants can take an optional 4-hour practical open-book exam. Achieving this certification along with the Data Center Operations certification automatically grants the Arista Networking Professional - Data Center certification.
